Metro School Pool helps alleviate traffic at your school by providing free information and tools to help parents save time and get their children to school safely. There are so many options to getting your students to school and Metro wants to help. Options include carpooling, walking and bicycling, using public transit, or offering school bus service. In addition, setting up drop off lanes or a valet service at your student’s school promotes a safer school environment. Click here to see what other schools are already doing!
Carpooling
If you are a school, it’s easy to get started, just fill out the Metro School Pool Enrollment Form. Metro will send you all the School Pool materials needed to launch a successful program.
There are two ways to run School Pool:
Walking and Biking
You can help promote walking and biking to and from your school to help improve the quality of the environment. To make walking and biking safe for everyone, consider the following resources:
Public Transit
Public transit is an option for older students and parents who volunteer to take groups of their students to school. Help relieve traffic! Check out Metro’s Rider’s Guide and easy to use Trip Planner to find your route!
Metro not only offers public transit options, but also a tour and safety presentation that is open to all students. Click on the links below to find out more:

Controlling Traffic Around Your School
Valet programs have helped other schools control traffic and ensured safety for students. If you are interested, find out more by contacting schools that are making positive changes!
Also, check out how sheriff’s (Link to LASD Community Partnership Programs) are helping to make commuting to school safe for students! You too can help make commuting to school safer. Just ask your local Sheriff how!
